Couples Counseling
Couples Therapy to help you and your partner resolve difficulties, improve communication, and develop new skills so that your relationship can be even more satisfying in the future. In addition to talk therapy and, in some cases, "Power Therapies", I help couples to learn and practice new, effective strategies to improve communication using models such as:
Gottman Method. John Gottman's research shows that, to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other's hopes for the future.
PREP (The Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program), based on over twenty years of research at the Center for Marital and Family Studies at the University Denver, PREP teaches marital/pre-marital couples essential skills: how to communicate effectively, work as a team, solve problems, manage conflict, and preserve and enhance love, commitment and friendship.
Non-Violent Communication. NVC emphasizes empathic listening and compassionate communication as a way of communicating more effectively and meeting both our own needs and the needs of others more effectively.
Premarital Counseling
Get your relationship off to a great start by investing in a few sessions of premarital counseling. The average couple waits six years
I often use Gottman relationship assessments and the clinical interview to help you to identify areas of strength and to make a plan for enhancing your relationship skills, and share researched and proven methods so that you can communicate to get though conflict and to deepen intimacy and connection with your partner.
Interpersonal Relationship Counseling
Improve your relationships with family members, friends, and co-workers. I offer treatment for individuals and for two or more people in my office or at the workplace to help you to resolve conflict and improve communication.
